Join artist Jana Bareham at Carousel for an introduction to Mokuhanga, the art of Japanese woodcut prints.
Mokuhanga is a traditional, water based, non-toxic printmaking method. In this one-day workshop, you will learn how to transfer an image onto a woodblock, carve your design, and create prints using traditional tools and paper.
Using only natural materials, water colour paint, soft shina woodblocks and hand held barrens to press the image onto washi paper, you will create as series of original prints to take home. This course is suitable for complete beginners to those that have printmaking experience but want to try a different technique.
