Projects and Partnerships
Carousel Print Studio work in partnership with a range of organisations.
We believe that printmaking offers powerful way to access art-making while providing opportunities for self-expression, social connection, community identity, and improved wellbeing. From one-off events to longer term, bespoke programmes, we aim to share the joy of print with audiences across the region.

From August to December 2025 we worked with The Snowdrop Project, a Sheffield based charity supporting survivors of modern slavery and exploitation. The project provided Snowdrop clients with expressive and creative printmaking sessions, guided by Carousel workshop leaders, and culminated in a vibrant exhibition at YAS Exchange Place Studios Gallery space.
Through this collaboration, The Snowdrop Project and Carousel Print Studio were able to offer access to visual arts for individuals who have faced challenging circumstances in their lives. Through the project, participants gained skills, confidence and improved wellbeing, reporting joy, pride and reduced stress, and producing high-quality prints through processes that connected to their varied cultural heritage.
Some participant comments:
The kind of stress people have on their shoulders - this can be helped by doing art and learning new things.
Since I was little I was told to look down and not go outside. Now with this project I look outside. In my head I was stuck, when I’m here and printing and talking I am happy.
I didn’t know there were so many different ways of printmaking, I only know the printing on fabric that my family did. I love sending photos of the artwork I’ve made to my family.
Becky Walstow James, Snowdrop Project Community Development Manager noted that participants enjoyed the social element as well as the artistic development - being introduced to new people, sharing culture and languages, and translated in shared languages e.g. Urdu, Arabic and English.
The Carousel team are honoured to have been part of this important project, and thank Arts Council England, Garfield Weston Foundation, and Foyle Foundation for their generous support.
‘Playing with colours, printing is fun - & laughing & talking!‘
